Stone Shackles

Stone Shackles restricts the movement of a target standing on stone or soil. On success, it can give an ordinary opponent a brief moment in which it cannot change position. However, it can still act within reach. The spell thus creates a tactical opportunity rather than completely shutting down the enemy or guaranteeing that it cannot harm the party.

The surface, short duration, and limit per target per combat must be respected. A main opponent receives only a penalty to its next movement check instead of being stopped from moving. The party needs a plan to use the change, such as altering the distance. The target's nearby attacks or other actions may still remain dangerous.

Exact effect: On success, an ordinary target cannot move but can act within reach. A main opponent only takes −2 to its next movement check. Bonus: +1 to MATK. Target: 1 target standing on stone or soil. Duration: 1 round. Restrictions: once per target per combat; the main-opponent rule applies. Using it requires at least Intelligence 8 and Level 2, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.

Meeting requirements is not enough

Min. INT and Min. Level only allow a spell to be learned. The character must actually acquire it through leveling, a teacher, a book, a scroll, a reward, a discovery, or the story.
