More Information

Definitions for terms and values used in the hero, bestiary, and equipment catalogues.

Attributes

Five basic scores describe a hero or creature. Heroes start at 5 in each attribute, then receive race and class adjustments and develop through play.

Strength (STR)
Physical power, endurance, and overcoming obstacles by force.
Agility (AGI)
Speed, precision, balance, stealth, and avoiding danger.
Intelligence (INT)
Awareness, knowledge, judgment, and working with magic.
Charisma (CHA)
Communication, persuasion, presence, and building relationships.
Luck (LUCK)
The influence of chance. It contributes to the Luck Bonus and may help when events turn against the party.

Strong and weak attributes

Every hero has one strong and one weak attribute: a main advantage and an area where they may need more help. Abbreviations in parentheses match the character sheets and rules.

Enemy difficulty

The number beside a creature is a guide to how challenging it may be in combat. It is not a number of points and it is not a roll difficulty. It helps parents and Oryn estimate the danger of an encounter.

1 · lowest
The least challenging creatures, suitable as a small obstacle or an early encounter.
2–3
Moderately challenging enemies. Their numbers and cooperation can make an encounter harder.
4–5 · current catalogue range
Very challenging opponents for a party with experience, useful equipment, or a plan.
An open scale
Current entries range from 1 to 5. In a longer adventure or campaign, Oryn can gradually raise the challenge by choosing stronger enemies, larger groups, or harder circumstances. Once a combat begins, the approved statistics for each creature stay the same.

Special abilities

An ability adds a specific rule that makes a hero or creature distinctive. On a creature page, the ability name links to its full description.
