Spirit · defensive
Guardian Spirit
Guardian Spirit briefly strengthens both the physical and magical defense of a visible ally. It can be a striking protective moment when the caster supports a threatened party member. However, its name does not imply an independent being with unlimited actions of its own. The listed effect is a defensive bonus for the target rather than another fully capable combatant in the encounter.
The benefit lasts two rounds, and non-stacking must be accounted for. One use per combat encourages choosing an important moment rather than assuming lasting protection. The party can use the bonus during a dangerous move or an ongoing confrontation. However, the target can still take damage and must act according to the actual situation.
Exact effect: The target gains +2 to both PDEF and MDEF. Bonus: +2 PDEF and MDEF. Target: 1 ally within sight. Duration: 2 rounds. Restrictions: once per combat; does not stack. Using it requires at least Intelligence 8 and Level 2, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
