Spirit · area control
Lay Spirits to Rest
Lay Spirits to Rest attempts to briefly interrupt the aggressive actions of a small group of spirits or undead creatures. It can give the party room to retreat, change position, or take another approach. Its scope is limited, and the effect is resolved against each target separately. It does not automatically calm every supernatural being across a wide area.
An ordinary target successfully hit cannot attack for the stated duration. A main opponent receives a smaller restriction on its attack and special ability. The area-attack rule and limited use per combat must be maintained. The party should know what it will do during the one round; the brief calm does not itself resolve the source of the danger or the entire encounter.
Exact effect: One MATK roll is compared with each target's MDEF. An ordinary target successfully hit cannot attack; a main opponent takes −2 to attack and cannot use its special ability. Bonus: +2 to MATK. Target: at most 3 spirits or undead creatures close together. Duration: 1 round. Restrictions: once per combat; area-attack and boss rules apply. Using it requires at least Intelligence 9 and Level 3, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
