Starting hero · Level 1

Halfling – Rogue

A halfling rogue is a natural choice for a player who wants high agility, luck, and an important scouting role. The character may be a messenger, a finder of lost things, or a discreet protector of neighbors. Small size does not replace actual cover, and low strength limits equipment. An interesting character need not steal from friends; a clear personal code can guide the use of these skills to keep the party safe.

Within the party, the rogue helps gather information, pass unnoticed, and gain access using suitable tools. The greatest contribution often comes before combat, when scouting helps the group understand what it can avoid. Soft Steps makes ordinary sneaking easier, but an exceptional obstacle may require a roll and the ability cannot create cover where none exists. Others' trust depends on the rogue's decisions, so defining personal boundaries and an attitude toward other people's property is useful.

The racial ability Lucky Break turns the character's own failed virtual roll into a narrow success once per adventure. The roll is not repeated; this is the minimum success required, with no additional advantage. The class adds Soft Steps: Vaelor assumes success during ordinary sneaking. Only an exceptional obstacle requires a roll; the ability does not allow hiding where it is objectively impossible. Choose starting equipment according to the requirements this particular hero meets. The listed values form the basis of a level-one character; personality, name, relationships, and the reason for adventuring are decided during character creation.
