Lucky Break
Once per adventure, turn your own failed virtual roll into a narrow success. Do not reroll; this is the minimum success required, with no extra advantage.
Starting hero · Level 1
A halfling ranger is a curious traveler skilled at exploration who enjoys finding a less conspicuous route. The character may grow up beside a trade road, know paths between villages, or collect news about places others do not visit. Agility and luck support this style, while low strength calls for light equipment. Preparation is the real advantage, rather than an assumption that every danger will automatically be escaped.
Within the party, the ranger helps plan routes, follow usable tracks, and recognize changes in the landscape. Before entering a dangerous place, the character can investigate approaches, cover, and ways back. Tracking does not reveal every creature's identity or intentions; the information needs to be combined with other clues. The ranger is therefore useful when rescuing a missing person, finding water, and deciding when the group should stop.
The racial ability Lucky Break turns the character's own failed virtual roll into a narrow success once per adventure. The roll is not repeated; this is the minimum success required, with no additional advantage. The class adds Tracker: automatically determine the direction in which a sought person or animal departed, provided usable tracks exist. Choose starting equipment according to the requirements this particular hero meets. The listed values form the basis of a level-one character; personality, name, relationships, and the reason for adventuring are decided during character creation.
