Lucky Break
Once per adventure, turn your own failed virtual roll into a narrow success. Do not reroll; this is the minimum success required, with no extra advantage.
Starting hero · Level 1
A halfling warrior shows that the decision to protect others does not depend on a character's size. The character may guard a home village, defend travelers, or set out in search of someone who once offered help. Low strength restricts some equipment, making it important to choose a weapon and shield according to their actual requirements. Courage may grow from caring about particular people, rather than a desire to defeat every larger opponent.
Within the party, the warrior helps keep danger away from more vulnerable allies and gives them room to make decisions. The character may guard a retreat, accompany a negotiator, or hold an important passage. The role is useful outside combat too: protecting travelers, preparing an expedition, and handling situations where someone needs support. Courage may mean admitting a mistake or choosing a safer route, rather than accepting every challenge.
The racial ability Lucky Break turns the character's own failed virtual roll into a narrow success once per adventure. The roll is not repeated; this is the minimum success required, with no additional advantage. The class adds Protect: once per battle, the warrior may take an attack directed at a nearby ally. The attack is resolved against the warrior's defense instead. Choose starting equipment according to the requirements this particular hero meets. The listed values form the basis of a level-one character; personality, name, relationships, and the reason for adventuring are decided during character creation.
