Curse; Ancient Protection
Once per battle, after a damaging hit, the target suffers −1 to all final rolls until the end of the next round. Against magical attacks, the mummy has +2 MDEF.
Undead Challenge 4
A mummy is a preserved body set in motion after death by a curse, necromancy, or an ancient protective spell. Its home is usually a tomb, a temple's underground chambers, or a burial structure from a forgotten culture. Its wrappings, jewelry, and inscriptions can reveal its origin and the dead person's former status. Opening the tomb may activate defenses created for a world with very different rules from present-day Elaria.
It may be a guardian, an executor of orders, or a being that retains some memories. One protects burial goods; another seeks an object taken from its tomb. A solitary mummy may represent a buried ruler, while several mummies may be attendants or guards. Their control may depend on an ancient ritual or a present-day necromancer. Aggression often follows an intrusion into a protected place rather than a need for food or ordinary prey.
Once per battle, Curse temporarily worsens all of the target's final rolls after a damaging hit. Ancient Protection increases magical defense, so magic alone may not be an easy solution. This effect does not automatically constitute a permanent disease, and the profile specifies no special weakness to fire. The party can translate inscriptions, return a stolen object, or seek a way to enter legitimately. Understanding the burial rules can turn seemingly senseless violence into a solvable dispute about what was promised to the dead.
