Dive Attack
Once per combat, gains +2 to the final Attack result; after this attack, has −1 PDEF until the start of its next turn.
Animal Challenge 2
An eagle nests on rocky ledges, tall trees and abandoned towers that give it a view over a wide area. Above mountains and open countryside, it uses air currents to circle for long periods. Its nest is usually difficult to reach and may occupy a spot the party needs as a lookout or a route across a cliff face.
It has excellent eyesight and reacts quickly to movement. It hunts smaller prey and usually keeps away from noisy groups. It often lives as part of a pair defending a nest and young, rather than an organized combat group. Attacking a large human is more likely a defense of its nesting ground or a response to a direct threat than an ordinary way of finding food.
Dive Attack strengthens its strike once per combat, but temporarily lowers its physical defense afterward. In flight, it uses height, speed and open space; circling before an attack gives observant characters a chance to find cover. An eagle can lead the party to a mountain pass, reveal the movement of prey or signal a disturbance in the landscape. Rescuing an injured bird or safely going around a nest can also provide a peaceful encounter.
