Shape Stone
Shape Stone is a practical spell for making a simple alteration to a continuous mass of nonmagical stone. It can create an opening, step, channel, or support and offer a new way to overcome an obstacle. Its size limit is a real part of using it. The spell does not imply unrestricted reshaping of a mountain or the instant disappearance of an entire fortress.
Before casting, the party should consider what it wants to achieve and what role the stone plays in the surrounding structure. Altering a load-bearing structure has consequences. The spell therefore encourages careful planning as well as ingenuity. When exploring ruins, understanding the surroundings first may matter more than thoughtlessly making an opening in every obstacle.
Exact effect: Creates a simple opening, step, channel, or support. Cannot bring down a load-bearing structure without consequences in the story. Target: a continuous mass of nonmagical stone up to 1 m³. Duration: 10 minutes. Restrictions: once per scene. Using it requires at least Intelligence 8 and Level 2, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
