Earth · area offense / control
Earthquake
Earthquake hits several nearby targets standing on the ground and can disrupt their next move. It is useful when opponents have gathered in one area. Its scope is limited by the shared area-attack rule; it is not an unrestricted earthquake across the entire region or the automatic destruction of surrounding buildings.
One roll is compared separately with each target's magical defense. The additional loss of the next move applies only to a target actually dealt at least one Hit Point of damage. It does not remove the entire action. One use per combat means choosing a suitable moment and knowing how the party will use the brief movement restriction.
Exact effect: One MATK roll is compared with each target's MDEF. A target dealt at least 1 HP of damage also loses its next move, not its entire action. Bonus: +2 to MATK. Target: at most 3 targets standing close together on the ground. Duration: instantaneous. Restrictions: once per combat; the area-attack rule applies. Using it requires at least Intelligence 10 and Level 5, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
