Water Breathing
Water Breathing helps one willing creature during a brief underwater exploration. It can allow the creature to examine a flooded passage, search for an item, or approach a place that would otherwise be difficult to reach. It addresses the specific need to breathe, rather than every ability a character would need to move safely and quickly in an aquatic environment.
Before submerging, it makes sense to plan the length of the journey and the return. The spell does not add better vision, swimming speed, or resistance to pressure, so other conditions may remain dangerous. Its ten-minute duration is not an unlimited stay underwater. For the party, it offers a chance to cooperate in preparing, providing support, and helping the explorer return.
Exact effect: The target can breathe normally underwater. The spell grants no extra speed, vision, or resistance to pressure. Target: 1 willing creature within reach. Duration: 10 minutes. Restrictions: once per scene per target. Using it requires at least Intelligence 8, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
