Heat Resistance

Heat Resistance helps a willing creature withstand ordinary heat and strengthens its magical defense against specified fire hazards. It is useful both for expeditions into hot environments and for encounters with fire magic. Its manifestation in the story may be subtle: what matters is the specific protection actually provided by the rules.

When using it, distinguish ordinary heat, fire spells, and other kinds of attack. The bonus to magical defense does not cover every danger in the world. The caster must come within reach of a willing target and account for the duration of one scene. Protection can support a thoughtful approach, but it is no reason to ignore other threats in a dangerous environment.

Exact effect: The target ignores ordinary heat and gains +3 MDEF only against fire spells and magical heat. Bonus: +3 MDEF against fire. Target: 1 willing creature within reach. Duration: 1 scene. Restrictions: once per scene per target. Using it requires at least Intelligence 7, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.

Meeting requirements is not enough

Min. INT and Min. Level only allow a spell to be learned. The character must actually acquire it through leveling, a teacher, a book, a scroll, a reward, a discovery, or the story.
