Smoke Screen

Smoke Screen turns a small part of the battlefield into an area that is harder to attack through. Its value lies in shaping the encounter, aiding a retreat, or creating a brief opportunity to change position. It does not provide selective protection only for friends: the penalty applies to attacks from both sides if they pass through the screen.

Before casting, it helps to agree on where the party needs to move and from where it will continue attacking. A poorly placed screen can complicate the party's own plan. It lasts briefly and can be used only once per combat, so timing carries real weight. The catalog does not grant it automatic damage, complete invisibility, or the ability to remove every way an enemy could act.

Exact effect: Attacks made through the screen take −2 to their final PATK or MATK. The penalty applies to both sides. Target: an area approximately 3 m wide. Duration: 2 rounds. Restrictions: once per combat. Using it requires at least Intelligence 7, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.

Meeting requirements is not enough

Min. INT and Min. Level only allow a spell to be learned. The character must actually acquire it through leveling, a teacher, a book, a scroll, a reward, a discovery, or the story.
