Ignite
Ignite turns a prepared candle, torch, or dry tinder into a small source of fire. It is a spell for readiness on the road: preparing the material properly matters as much as casting the spell itself. In a story, it can show the experience of a hero who first finds a suitable place and fuel, then turns to magic.
It is useful for lighting a prepared torch or starting a small fire where conditions permit. It is not intended to attack a creature and cannot target a carried item. The caster's wish alone will not overcome wet fuel. Once an ordinary fire has started, it must still be handled with care appropriate to the surroundings and the situation.
Exact effect: Ignites a small, prepared source of fire. Deals no damage and cannot ignite wet material. Target: a candle, torch, or dry tinder within sight. Duration: instantaneous. Restrictions: cannot target a creature or a carried item. Using it requires at least Intelligence 5, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
