Mind Shield
Mind Shield provides brief protection against spells of the Mind school. It can matter in an encounter with an enemy who influences characters' perception or mental state. However, its protection applies to a specific school. Its name does not imply general immunity to every unpleasant emotion, deceptive statement, or other kind of magical attack.
The caster protects themselves or a visible ally and must account for the three-round duration. The effect does not stack and can be used once per combat. Recognizing the kind of threat before casting is therefore useful. The protection can support the party's plan against mental magic but does not guarantee that the target will be safe from physical or other attacks.
Exact effect: The target gains +3 MDEF against spells of the Mind school. Bonus: +3 MDEF. Target: caster or 1 ally within sight. Duration: 3 rounds. Restrictions: once per combat; only against Mind magic; does not stack. Using it requires at least Intelligence 7, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
