Open a Gate Between Worlds
Open a Gate Between Worlds is a ritual for travelling to a world or plane already known and established in the story. It can begin a significant journey for the entire party, but does not allow an arbitrary choice of an unknown place without context. The destination must have a specific basis in the story. The gate allows creatures and their carried equipment to pass through for a short time.
The ritual takes ten minutes and is performed outside combat, so it requires a suitable place and preparation. The open passage lasts three rounds, and use is limited to once per adventure. The party must plan the order in which it crosses and what to do on the other side. Opening the gate does not automatically guarantee a return journey or safe conditions in the destination world.
Exact effect: Opens a passage only to a world or plane already known and established in the story. Creatures and their carried equipment can pass through the gate. Target: an empty space for the gate. Duration: 3 rounds. Limit: once per adventure; 10-minute ritual; outside combat. Use requires at least INT 17 and Level 20, the appropriate spellcasting ability and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
