Extraordinary Resurrection

Extraordinary Resurrection is an exceptional ritual for a story in which actual death exists. Basic player characters do not die at zero HP, so the spell is not a routine part of every instance in which they are incapacitated. The target must be the willing soul of someone recently deceased, and the result returns the character to their body with one HP, rather than in full health.

The ritual takes an hour and can be used only once per campaign. The soul's consent is essential, and the limit on time since death must be respected. In the story, this can make a conversation about willingness and return important, rather than merely undoing a consequence through a procedure. After awakening, the target still needs care and a safe way forward.

Exact effect: Returns the soul to its body, and the target awakens with 1 HP. This is an exception for stories in which actual death exists; basic player characters do not die at 0 HP. Bonus: return with 1 HP. Target: 1 willing soul whose death occurred no more than 1 day ago. Duration: 1-hour ritual. Limit: once per campaign; requires the soul's consent and knowledge of the spell. Use requires at least INT 18 and Level 25, the appropriate spellcasting ability and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.

Meeting requirements is not enough

Min. INT and Min. Level only allow a spell to be learned. The character must actually acquire it through leveling, a teacher, a book, a scroll, a reward, a discovery, or the story.
