Astral Magic · area attack

Starfall

Starfall is an exceptionally powerful area attack against a small group of nearby targets. It can be the climax of a demanding encounter and a striking manifestation of Astral Magic. Even so, its scope is precisely defined and it affects at most three targets. Its dramatic name does not imply striking an entire landscape or any number of opponents regardless of their positions.

One roll is compared against each target's magic defence separately, and results may differ. The area-effect rule and the limit of one use per adventure must be observed. Knowledge of the spell and its other requirements are essential. The party should choose the right moment and plan for the encounter to continue, rather than expecting every battle to end automatically.

Exact effect: Compare one MATK roll separately against each target's MDEF. This exceptional area power is balanced by its requirements and limit. Bonus: +6 MATK. Target: up to 3 targets close together. Duration: instant. Limit: once per adventure; the area-effect rule applies; requires knowledge. Use requires at least INT 16 and Level 16, the appropriate spellcasting ability and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.

Meeting requirements is not enough

Min. INT and Min. Level only allow a spell to be learned. The character must actually acquire it through leveling, a teacher, a book, a scroll, a reward, a discovery, or the story.
