Spirit Ray
Spirit Ray is a magical attack intended for spirits and undead creatures. It suits a caster who wants to confront such beings directly rather than merely observing or negotiating. Its focus is an important part of the Spirit school. It is not a general attack usable against every living opponent that stands in the party's way.
Before casting, the target must be suitable and within sight. Damage is resolved against magical defense, so success is not guaranteed merely because the target is undead or a spirit. The spell does not automatically remove the curse that created the being or provide answers about its past. Further investigation or another approach may be needed for that.
Exact effect: A magical attack against a spirit's or undead creature's MDEF. Bonus: +3 to MATK. Target: 1 spirit or undead creature within sight. Duration: instantaneous. Restrictions: cannot target an ordinary living creature. Using it requires at least Intelligence 8 and Level 2, the appropriate casting ability, and knowledge of this spell. Meeting the numerical requirements alone does not grant knowledge of the spell.
