Adaptability
Once per adventure, reroll your own failed roll. Vaelor creates a new random permutation; choose a number again and use the better of the two results.
Starting hero · Level 1
A human rogue specializes in moving discreetly and reaching places ordinary routes do not lead to. The character may explore ruins, assist the guard, or be a former pickpocket who changed course. The class name does not determine the character's morality. Adaptability supports a hero who improvises and learns from failure, while real values emerge through whom the character helps and what the character refuses to do.
Within the party, the rogue helps gather information, pass unnoticed, and gain access using suitable tools. The greatest contribution often comes before combat, when scouting helps the group understand what it can avoid. Soft Steps makes ordinary sneaking easier, but an exceptional obstacle may require a roll and the ability cannot create cover where none exists. Others' trust depends on the rogue's decisions, so defining personal boundaries and an attitude toward other people's property is useful.
The racial ability Adaptability allows a reroll after the character's own failed roll once per adventure. Vaelor creates a new random permutation, the player chooses a number again, and the better of the two results is used. The class adds Soft Steps: Vaelor assumes success during ordinary sneaking. Only an exceptional obstacle requires a roll; the ability does not allow hiding where it is objectively impossible. Choose starting equipment according to the requirements this particular hero meets. The listed values form the basis of a level-one character; personality, name, relationships, and the reason for adventuring are decided during character creation.

Calculated exactly as base 5 + race + class.
