Shortbow

A shortbow is an agility-based ranged weapon suited to a novice ranger or any other adventurer who meets its requirements. In Elaria, it may be made by a local craftsperson or passed from an experienced guide to a student. Its appearance may evoke a particular landscape or family tradition without granting hidden properties.

It requires both hands to use. Choosing it therefore depends on being able to put down a shield and find a safe shooting position. Cover, line of sight, and approaching opponents often matter more than the weapon's name alone. A shortbow does not automatically improve stealth or allow shots through an obstacle; the party must act according to the particular situation.

Attacks use Agility (AGI). The 2H designation means it uses both hands. The minimum is AGI5, and its catalog physical attack bonus (PATK) is +2. The price is 2 gp. A hero's total attack is then calculated from attributes and the applicable rules; the listed weapon bonus is not the entire final attack.
