Plate Armor

Plate armor is the strongest standard armor in this catalog, and in Elaria it may represent both a major investment and a personal commitment. It may be the work of a respected armorer, equipment issued for service, or a reward for an exceptional deed. Its emblems and decorations can show whom the wearer protects and why they value the trust that comes with such equipment.

It requires very high strength and has a substantial price. If the minimum is not met, its bonus cannot simply be used because the character acquired it. Another type of armor or time for further character development may be appropriate. The catalog grants it neither automatic magical defense nor penalties that are not listed. When planning, the whole party's defense matters, rather than just one member's equipment.

The catalog lists the type as "heavy" and the base physical defense bonus (PDEF) as +5. Required Strength is STR10. The price is 25 gp. Final defense also depends on the hero's attributes and the rules for the equipment in use. This armor's protective value alone grants no additional bonus to magical defense.
