Chainmail

Chainmail is medium protective equipment that may be worn in Elaria by an experienced guard or adventurer. Its origins may lie in service, a family inheritance, or a significant reward. A workshop's mark or unusual ornamentation may help identify a former owner and connect the armor to a place's past.

It offers a stronger physical defense bonus than light armor, but increases both the strength requirement and price. When deciding, consider whether the hero meets the minimum and what other purchases they will have to limit. Its classification alone adds no movement penalty or other rule absent from the catalog. It also provides no automatic protection against magical attacks.

The catalog lists the type as "medium" and the base physical defense bonus (PDEF) as +3. Required Strength is STR6. The price is 8 gp. Final defense also depends on the hero's attributes and the rules for the equipment in use. This armor's protective value alone grants no additional bonus to magical defense.
