Parchment

Parchment is a consumable writing material used to record a message, note, or map. In Elaria, it may come from an ordinary workshop, a scholar's supplies, or a messenger's luggage. Its value can change with its contents: a blank sheet is a supply, while a written sheet may be the only record of an important event.

It helps share information and preserve things the party does not want to rely on memory alone to remember. It does not create an accurate map or a magical scroll by itself. Writing requires suitable tools and information. Finding part of a message may begin a search for its author, recipient, or missing continuation; judge the contents by clues rather than the sheet's appearance alone.

Rules effect: Writing messages, notes, or maps. The price is 2 cp. This is a consumable supply; account for its consumption when used. Its listed effect applies to the situation it is intended for. Additional bonuses, other forms of protection, and new magical abilities are not part of this entry.
