Climbing kit

A climbing kit is specialized equipment for expeditions that need to safely overcome heights and difficult approaches. In Elaria, it may come from a mountain guide, a craftsperson, or a previous expedition's equipment. Markings and repairs can suggest who used it and where to look for someone who did not return from a journey.

The agility bonus applies when climbing, provided the kit can be used. The heroes must still choose the location, approach, and way to cooperate. The item guarantees neither automatic success nor safe access when suitable conditions are absent. An expedition may begin with finding a kit, arranging help from a guide, or discovering a familiar piece of equipment beneath a difficult rock face.

Rules effect: +2 AGI to a climbing test, if the kit can be used. The price is 2 gp. The item is reusable rather than a single-use supply. Its listed effect applies to the situation it is intended for. Additional bonuses, other forms of protection, and new magical abilities are not part of this entry.
