Grappling hook and rope

A grappling hook and rope is a tool for situations where a connection can be secured to a place the hero cannot reach directly. In Elaria, it may belong to a scout, a mountain dweller, or a group rescuing people from difficult places. The hook and rope's design may point to a local workshop or an expedition from which only the equipment remains.

The bonus when climbing or overcoming an obstacle applies only if the hook can be secured safely. The player must describe a suitable anchor point and approach, rather than having the item automatically open any route. The catalog grants neither a combat attack nor unconditional success. The party can work together to find the right approach and decide who will help the others.
