Quill

A quill is an ordinary writing tool for a hero who wants to record notes and messages. In Elaria, it may accompany a scholar, storyteller, merchant, or curious scout. It may be simple or kept in a personal case. This small item can easily connect the expedition's practical side with a memory of someone who taught the character to write.

A quill needs other writing supplies and a suitable surface; it does not provide an unlimited supply of text by itself. It grants no automatic Intelligence bonus and creates no magical writings. The party may use it to draw a map, write a message to the guard, or list their discoveries. Distinctive handwriting or a missing writing tool can contribute to a story centered on information.

Rules effect: Writing tool. The price is 1 cp. The item is reusable rather than a single-use supply. Its listed effect applies to the situation it is intended for. Additional bonuses, other forms of protection, and new magical abilities are not part of this entry.
