Backpack

A backpack keeps traveling equipment together and lets a hero set out with things needed for more than a single scene. In Elaria, it may come from a family workshop or a market, or be a keepsake repaired many times. A pocket containing an old letter or a mark on a buckle can connect this practical item to a personal past.

When preparing an expedition, it helps distinguish what is packed away from what the character has immediately at hand. It does not automatically have unlimited space or special protection for its contents. A lost or mistakenly exchanged backpack can create a peaceful story: recovering supplies, identifying the owner, or returning something that belongs to someone else.

Rules effect: Ordinary transport of adventuring gear. The price is 5 sp. The item is reusable rather than a single-use supply. Its listed effect applies to the situation it is intended for. Additional bonuses, other forms of protection, and new magical abilities are not part of this entry.
