Wyvern

A wyvern is a large winged monster with a predatory body and a dangerous venomous stinger. In Elaria, it nests on cliffs, high ruins, and mountain outcrops overlooking the surrounding countryside. Remains of prey beneath its nest and marks left by large talons reveal its presence. Although it may resemble a dragon at first glance, its behavior is driven mainly by hunting and defending its own territory.

It often lives alone or in a pair with young. It is observant and can exploit favorable conditions, but this profile does not grant it a dragon's learning or a desire to build a vast hoard. It seeks food and a safe nesting place. It may attack herds if they offer easier prey than mountain animals. If it serves a person or another master, the relationship must arise from specific breeding, training, or magic.

Once per battle, Poisonous Stinger adds two damage after a physical hit, provided the base attack actually dealt damage. This is not automatically long-term poisoning or an extra attack without a condition. Height, open space, and available cover change the danger of the encounter. The party can locate the nest, prevent further attacks on herds, or help an owner recover an escaped monster. Understanding the cause of its behavior often helps choose between direct confrontation, securing the surrounding area, and changing the route.
