Shield Wall
If at least one other hobgoblin is in combat, gains +2 PDEF.
Fantasy humanoid Challenge 2
Hobgoblins build stronger, more organized communities than many smaller gangs. In Elaria, they can be found in fortified camps, occupied strongholds and along the borders of disputed territories. Their traditions emphasize service, order and collective strength. Individual companies have different origins: some come from old military families, while others formed around a capable commander during wartime.
They are intelligent, disciplined and able to plan for the long term. Within a group, they have clear roles and expect orders to be followed; authority is tied to rank and results. They may serve their own chief, a local ruler or work as a contracted unit. They seek supplies, safe territory and recognition of their group's strength. Strictness does not automatically mean reckless aggression. A carefully prepared agreement may benefit a commander more than losses in battle.
Shield Wall increases physical defense when at least one other hobgoblin is in combat. Fighting together therefore strongly supports their style. Disrupted organization, an exposed mistaken order or a threatened supply route can change the situation before combat begins. The party can negotiate with the commander over passage, prisoners or a shared enemy. A hobgoblin who has given their word and has reason to keep it may be a more reliable partner than a polished human with unclear interests.
